A is For Apple

The seventh grade recently went to the Apple store to present their Fever 1793 projects to parents and Apple store customers in conjunction with the Apple Youth Program. This was a great chance for the students to show off their projects and their technology accomplishments to a greater audience using the store’s computers. A sampling of the Web 2.0 tools that the students used in the creation of their projects are: iMovie, iWeb, Skype, Glogster, iTunes and Voicethread. The highlight for some students was presenting their projects on the big screen stage area at the back of the store.

Voicethread, Video, Week In Rap, Oh My!

In an effort to foster global conversation, we welcome students and teachers outside our classroom walls across the U.S. and internationally to respond to our Voicethread. For those of you who do not know what a Voicethread is, you are in for a treat. A Voicethread is digital storytelling at its best. This wonderful tool allows you to share your thoughts with the world, which is exactly what this prompt hopes you will do. You have three choices as to how you will share your words: you may speak them, type them, or use a webcam if you are able to, and you may comment as often as you like and on any or all of the three pages.

Please answer the following questions: (Part 1 of blog prompt for the week)

What is the best thing about where you live? What is the worst thing about where you live? Of all the places you have traveled to outside of where you live, where is your favorite? Where would you like to go that you haven’t been yet? Of course, you need to explain all of your answers thoroughly and with details. For those of you who will type your comments, please use correct spelling and grammar.

Directions For Using Voicethread:

My students will need to sign in to comment. For new users, you do NOT need to sign in or register, you may just comment. To comment, please click on the “comment” link. There you will have the choice of either recording your voice (microphone icon), typing your words (Letter A icon), or using a webcam (camera icon). There are three pages to this Voicethread, and you can comment on any or all three pages accessed by the bottom right hand arrow. If you are happy with your recording or what you have typed, be sure to save. If not, hit cancel and you may re-record or re-type as often as you like. Click on the camera icon to use your webcam. You may NOT use the doodle function, nor the telephone option (it costs money). All inappropriate comments will be deleted immediately.
