Halloween

Bet You Didn’t Know: Halloween History

Describe your favorite Halloween costume so far. It could be from when you were a toddler to what you will be wearing this year. Be descriptive using those adjectives we just reviewed.

Also, can you describe a particularly funny or scary Halloween? Something that happened when you went trick or treating? I know you all have great stories to tell!

Two paragraphs one for each. I’m looking for creative opening lines and thoughtful concluding sentences. Remember to add in an extra return to indicate a new paragraph.

Trick or Treat!! Halloween Style

Hi Students,

It’s time for the annual Halloween post! Please craft two well-written paragraphs, one describing your favorite Halloween costume, and one sharing a funny or scary memory that happened when you either went trick or treating and/or attended a Halloween event of some kind. If you have never participated in Halloween, then describe a time when you wore a costume whether it be for a theater production or some other occasion and tell about the events surrounding it.

Be very descriptive (use those adjectives) when describing your costume. This has always been a fun prompt to do. We love reading about the clever and creative costumes and the funny or scary things that happened to you. Please do not make stuff up and watch those run-on sentences…I am seeing way too many of them. Many of you need to take better care when editing.

If you plan on going out this Halloween, have fun and be safe!!

And a very clever costume!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, Students!

What has been your favorite Halloween costume so far? Was it one from when you were a toddler or something more recent? Describe it in detail and tell why it is your favorite. If you do not celebrate Halloween, please tell about a costume you have worn (maybe for a play) and the reasons why you wore it.

Also, can you retell a particularly fun Halloween when something scary or funny happened to you?

(Two small, descriptive paragraphs and remember to put a space between them)

Please watch those run-on sentences. Use a period (to create two sentences) or a comma using one of the FANBOYS conjunctions. Also, let’s see some very descriptive adjectives and vivid verbs in your writing.

Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling is going to release a story about Dolores Umbridge on Oct. 31 and fans are on the edge of their seat. Remember the creepy Hogwarts professor Dolores Umbridge? Get a reminder here:

Halloween

In honor of Halloween which was yesterday, please look at the image and tell a story. You are to write three short, descriptive paragraphs. First paragraph is the introduction to your story, the second paragraph has at least three details, and the last paragraph is the conclusion. Watch for run-on sentences, awkward sentences, comma splices, and apostrophes. Remember to begin with a creative lead and end with something that leaves the reader thinking. If you want, you may use a little dialog but don’t get carried away. Remember to always start a new line when someone new speaks.

Back By Popular Demand! It’s Halloween!!

Hi Students!

This week’s post is all about Halloween! (One good descriptive paragraph)

What is/was your best Halloween costume ever? Please describe.

Also, please tell your funniest or scariest Halloween story. (Must be something that really happened to you)

If you have never dressed up for Halloween, please tell about a time when you did wear a costume and the circumstances surrounding that.

Below is a picture of my children and our beloved Harvest (she loved to dress up, too) many years ago. One year, my husband dressed up as a scarecrow and lay in a wheelbarrow on our front porch. When children came up to the front door to ring the doorbell, he would suddenly spring to life! You could hear the screams a long way away! It was great fun!
