Hi Students!

This week’s post is all about Halloween! (One good descriptive paragraph)

What is/was your best Halloween costume ever? Please describe.

Also, please tell your funniest or scariest Halloween story. (Must be something that really happened to you)

If you have never dressed up for Halloween, please tell about a time when you did wear a costume and the circumstances surrounding that.

Below is a picture of my children and our beloved Harvest (she loved to dress up, too) many years ago. One year, my husband dressed up as a scarecrow and lay in a wheelbarrow on our front porch. When children came up to the front door to ring the doorbell, he would suddenly spring to life! You could hear the screams a long way away! It was great fun!

Students, since we have been talking about memory the last few days in regards to our reading of The Giver, and since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought it would be fun if we shared favorite Halloween memories. This was a fun blog post last year, too. Please answer the prompts below:

This Halloween picture is of my children many years ago with Harvest, one of our beloved Goldens. She loved to dress up and go trick-or-treating, too!

Will your Halloween costume reflect current events or pop culture?

If you are dressing up for Halloween this year, will your costume be inspired by current events or one that references something or someone from pop culture? Even if your choices are not from either of these categories, what are some of your ideas for this Halloween?

What was your favorite Halloween costume?

I’ve had some very clever students who wrote that they were laundry baskets, washing machines, crayons, etc. I always love reading these personal narratives. Do your parents dress up too?

One year when my children were little, my husband dressed up as a scarecrow and pretended to be fake. He sat in a chair on our porch by the front door and didn’t move a muscle. (We were living in Virginia at the time.) When the children came trick or treating to the front door, he would jump up all of a sudden! You could hear the screams coming from our house all the way down the street!  It was great! MUHAHAHAHAH

Do you have a Halloween story to share?

The above left picture is one of my favorites of my children and our beloved golden, Harvest. She loved to go trick or treating too. The picture on the right is Abigail trying on a costume……..I don’t know what she will be for sure;  you’ll have to wait till after Halloween to find out!
