Hi Students!
Since many of you are reading or have read independent reading books that involve some time travel, I thought this prompt might be fun. Please follow the directions on the image and answer all the parts of the prompt. Be sure to explain all reasoning with why.

If I could make time traveling portals I would place one in my third grade class three years ago an one in my backyard current time. I would place them there because me and my best friend Raven had a huge fight about where she puked after eating a spoiled hamburger. She said “Burger King” I said ” McDonalds” and that lead to our friendship being over for a while, then after 3-4 weeks we got over it and were friends again. If I could send someone or something through the portal I would send a very skilled finger monkey holding a tape recorder riding on a pig to record the conversation before our fight to see who was right.
Funny post, Camille!
If I could use a tunnel to travel between two different time periods, the tunnel would link the age of the dinasaurs to the time of the first cavemen. I would love to see what the earth was like when the dinosaurs reigned. I would get to see all of the most awesome and ferocious dinosaurs. Maybe I could even bring back an actual dinosaur instead of just bones. (I probably wouldn’t choose the T-Rex)! Did the dinosaurs really look like we imagine they did? The entrance to the tunnel leading to the time of prehistoric man would be in a dinosaur drinking pool, and it would exit in a cave. I would like to see how early man really lived in person so I could bring back some of the most accurate information ever. I think it would be interesting to see if they were good hunters, and how they reacted to a modern human. Would they feel threatened by me? It would also be cool to see how they communicated with one another. If they couldn’t actually talk, I wonder how they would let eachother know if there was a giant bull getting ready to charge and gore one of them from behind!
Then you can tell Ms. Wells about the cavemen!
If I could time travel to any historic time, I would travel to Ancient Greece. I would go in 2000 b.c. and I would travel from wherever the machine was to the Acropolis. I have always been interested in Greece, and I would love to see the ruins before they were destroyed, and to see how people acted back then. I wonder if I would see the gods( and goddesses ) there? I wish the technology existed today. If I could go there it would be very exiting, and I could also make lots of scientific discoveries if I could stay long enough. I would visit Athens, The Parthenon, and all of the other famous places. I would go alone, and then transport to a second after I left so no time besides one second would have gone on.
The second place I would transport to would be Egypt. Like Greece, I am interested in the mythology, and the secrets of Ancient Egypt. I would go in 2700 b.c., so I could see the pyramids being built. I have always wondered how they got the bricks at the very top on them. I would again bring myself. If I could go there I would probably be tempted to stay, so I wouldn’t stay that long. I wish I could go to either of those amazing places in history.
I had a feeling you would write something having to do with mythology!
If couple set up a tunnel throug two times I would choose now and some time in the prehistoric era. I wouldn’t do it for me, I would do it for scientists so that they could research and study what the dinosaurs were like or what early hominids did for daily life. The enterences would be at Harvard University and a camp site where hominids lived. The people who could go through the tunnel would be scientists, me, and any government officials.
Good job, Ashton
I would set up time travel from 1492 (when Columbus sailed the ocean blue) and 2012. Think abou it, in 1492 they were finding out if the world is round, now were finding out which students have the iPad 1,2, or 3. Both of the tunnel entrences would be where Christopher Columbus first stopped his ship in “the new world” because when he first came here we could have been waiting for him so we could show him what the world would be like in the future, and what his journey started, besides getting spices from India. So Columbus would go through the tunnel, so would the people who make apple products, the president candidates, the important people in New York City, and Celebrities. Think about it, without him discovering America, no one would be here except the Native Americans! ☺
Or Apple 4!
If I could connect two time periods I would send myself back onehundred years when Babe Ruth hit his famous “Called Shot”. All
Where else?
I would want to do is sit in the stands and watch history in the making. I would see him point to deep center field, then hit a rocket deep to in the outfield, then hear the croud explode as he trots around the bases. I would then come back to the present and tell everyone how the “Called Shot was real the not just TV mumbojumbo I would also want to see some of the all-time greats if I went back there, like the guy hitting behind Babe Ruth, lou Gerig.
Sorry this was late my computer bugged deleteing all my work.
Nice pick Jason!! I was deciding between that and Joe DiMaggio’s hitting streak but since I saw that you did this I chose Joe.
If I had to dig a tunnel for time travel, I would dig one in 3500 B.C.E, then Iink it to 2090. I would want to dig one in 3500 B.C.E because that is when the first civilization, Sumerian Empire, was created. I would want to see how life was back then for both animals and people. I would link it to 2090 because I would want to see what the future looked like. In both time periods, I would study what refreshments they drink, what food they eat, what clothing they wear, and what work they have to do. I would send myself through this tunnel, and maybe another person who studies each time period, and a small animal that I could look after. I would also focus on the behavior’s of both the person and the animal. The small animal I would probably bring would be a dog, cat, or bird because they are easy to look after and study. I think going through this tunnel would be a very exciting and adventurous trip.
Nicely written, Sydney.
When I was young I would always dream about the day when someone invents a time traveling system. But if I could set it up between two places in history I would do where I am now, so I can always get home, and probably the day when George Washington was the president. I would set this time traveler up in our house because that’s were I want to be when I come back. The reason that I would pick this time to go to is because I think that it would be really cool to see him on T.V. The people that I would take with me are my whole family because I think that they would like to see him to. when we get there we would watch him be president on T.V. Then it was over we would just stay the night then the next morning we would leave. So this is what I would do with a time traveler, I wish that I could have one in real life.
O wait sorry the T.V. was not invented then.
Yes, no TV back then!
If I could set up a time travel between two places it would be the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. I would want to time travel to the 1976 Olympics to see Nadia Comaneci score a ten in gymnastics. A ten is a perfect score, and her bars were perfect. She was the first person ever to score a ten. I would also want to see the 1996 Olympics because that is when Kerri Strug did the vault on a broken leg to lead her teammates to win the gold in gymnastics. Those are two very important events in sports history, especially to me. Those two events inspire me everyday. I would love to time travel back and forth to those two events experiencing what it felt like that day. I would definitely time travel to these two events, but I would also invite all of my gymnastics team because it would inspire them too. The entrance porthole from 1976 to 1996 would be at the beginning of the vault runway. You would have to do a vault on a broken leg to go to the time of Kerri Shrug because that is what she did. The porthole from 1996 to 1976 would be on the bars. To get to 1996 you would have to do a perfect bar routine like Nadia. If your routine wasn’t perfect it might take you to a place somewhere different. I think that these places would be amazing to time travel to.
I remember those two Olympic events very well!
If I could connect two time periods it would be when titanic sank and 1972. I would want to go to both of those time periods because I am curious how different it was from today, and because I would learn a lot more on titanic if I could watch it sink. The entrances of the two time periods would be in the main lobby of the titanic, and in a diner in 1972. If I could travel with someone to the titanic to the 1972 it would be a friend of mine. I would pick a friend to go to different time periods because it would be fun to mess around in the time period, and have fun. I would bring a watch to the time periods because I would want to keep track of what time it is so I know when to go back.
Maybe you can warn them about the iceberg!
If I could connect any two points of history, I would set up a time portal between now and ancient Canaan, where the first בית המקדש (Holy Temple) stood. I would put the portal in the present in my Jewish Synagogue for any Jew to access around the world. I would put it in my synagogue because it is very Zionistic (Pro-Israel) and religious. I would bring all of my Jewish friends and everyone in my synagogue, although anyone who would like to come can most certainly join us. I would have everyone bring their טלית (prayer shawls) and have them pray in the בית המקדש. It would be a great time for everyone in the Jewish community, and it would do wonders for learning about our Jewish past.
Great information, Benjamin!
If I could time travel I would put a tunnel between Would War II, and dinosaurs because I think it wold be funny to watch all the bad little people get crush to death by the dinosaurs. When the people are inner then they could walk though the tunnel to get away from the war and get help from the doctors. The only people or animal that can go though the tunnel are he dinosaurs and injerd people or doctors. That is what I would do with time travel.
Clever, post , Elizabeth!
If I could make a time tunnel I would connect to one of the ringling bros and dino age because I would like to see what the cicuse could do with dinos that would be funny to watch them ride dinosous. It would be awesome!
If I could go to one time in history it would be the last game of Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak in 1941. I would go to that time because it is considered one of baseball’s unbreakable records. I would not only because of the record but to also see the history of old Yankee stadium and his fellow players who were also great. The other end of the tunnel would be here in my backyard so it would be easy to access and get there whenever I wanted. I would bring myself and my friend Jason because he loves the sport of baseball and the history of baseball and I think he would love to go on the trip.
If I were to set up time travel tunnels between two moments in time, I would choose today and September 10, 2012. The first tunnel from today’s time would be located at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. I would also set up a tunnel in Benghazi, Libya on September 10, 2012 so people from our miltary at the Pentagon could warn the soldiers and U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens that there would be a terror attack coming. In order to be able to accomplish this, the Pentagon would have to remind everyone that tomorrow was September 11, and that in the past there have been multiple attacks on this day. They would also have to take extra troops through the tunnel in order to better protect the embassy. I would also ask the government officials over in Libya to take a look at Chris Stevens’ diary so they could prepare for the attack. I would have President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Former Massachussets Governor Mitt Romney, and U.S. House Representative Paul Ryan go through the tunnel to witness firsthand what REALLY would happen.
Anonymous was me
If I could set up a time travel tunnel in any two places in time it would be between World War II and now. One tunnel entrance would be in a German concentration camp and the other in a military base. I would do this because our army could go through and save people from the concentration camp. I would choose these because my great grandfather was in a concentration camp and he escaped, I feel everyone should have escaped.
I would time travel back to the Ice Age. I think it would be very cool to see all the enormous creatures! I understand it can be very cold and lonely, but have no fear – I know what to pack! I would pack tons of jackets, a flashlight and batteries, and bring some friends and family. We would have to stay away from some dangerous creatures though! It would be such a memorable moment to be there during that time. The tunnel entrances would be in a cave. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a spooky cave! The tunnel entrance here in Florida, would be in my closet, I would have a secret code to open the tiny door. That way, any time I forgot, or needed anything, I would go through the cave, through my closet, and in my room. I think that decision is wise and clever. I would have at least two other people come with me through the cave and my closet because just in case something happens to us, we have people to help us out. I would also bring my dogs, Henry and Lucy, because they can keep us keep warm, but I wouldn’t want the mammoths to hurt my dogs though. I think it would be interesting and fun to go back to the Ice Age. It would be a great adventure to go on!
Sorry! I didn’t mean to post two times!
I would time travel back to the Ice Age because it would be really cool to see all the animals and snow! I would bring my friends, family, flashlight, batteries, and OF COURSE a lot of jackets! The time traveling tunnels would be between a cave, and my closet. It wouldn’t be a spooky cave though. I would also bring my dogs, Henry and Lucy, because they are very loving, and they can keep us warm. I would put the time traveling entrances in a cave and closet, because if I ever forget anything, I can just open the tiny door, and vooila! I am at home! I would DEFINITELY have to be careful about the mammoths and saber tooth cats! I would not want them to hurt any of us! It would be an amazing experience to be there during the Ice Age! When I was little, I would watch the Ice Age movies, and I loved them! I especially love the little squirrel! I would have at least two other people come with me through the tunnel because you never know what could happen. It would be very interesting and cool to go back to the Ice Age!
